Zach is a Lebanese-Canadian percussionist/timpanist living in Vancouver. He is currently the assistant principal timpanist/section percussionist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He was previously the principal timpani of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with the Vancouver Island Symphony, Symphony 21, and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. He has toured Canada with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and has attended the Aspen Music Festival under a fellowship. In addition to orchestral percussion, he has experience with drumset and afro-latin percussion.

Zach earned his Master’s of Music in Orchestral Percussion from the Manhattan School of Music, and graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University, earning a Bachelor’s of Music in Percussion Performance and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication Studies. His primary teachers include Chris Lamb, She-e Wu, Duncan Patton, and Steven White.

An avid chamber musician, Zach placed 2nd in the Percussion Ensemble division of the Italy Percussive Arts Society web contest with his quartet. In addition to orchestral percussion and timpani, Zach has experience playing and teaching drumset. He loves playing, teaching, and arranging.
