Based in Brooklyn, NY, Tyler is an oboist and arts administrator. Tyler currently serves as a Project Manager at Carnegie Hall, where he develops digital initiatives like Carnegie Hall+, the Timeline of African American Music, WQXR broadcasts, new podcasts, and more. Previously at Carnegie Hall, Tyler marketed major campaigns including the groundbreaking Afrofuturism festival, 22–23 season announcement, and launch of Carnegie Hall+. Prior to his position at Carnegie Hall, Tyler was a Digital Associate at New Music USA, where he represented the organization in their involvement with the City Artist Corps, a $25MM initiative providing relief funding to NYC musicians. There, he served as the communications subcommittee leader.
As an active oboist, Tyler freelances in New York City, where he regularly performs with the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra and New York Chamber Players. Tyler specializes in the music of living composers, for whom he has performed, commissioned, and premiered 50+ works. In 2019 and 2020, Tyler and his woodwind quintet were invited to compete in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition. In 2018, Tyler performed as a concerto soloist for Mozart’s “Symphonie Concertante,” and Michael Daugherty’s “Firecracker.” Tyler attended Northwestern University, where he studied under the tutelage of Michael Henoch and Robert Morgan.
