Den Norske Opera & Ballett (Norwegian National Opera & Ballet)

The Norwegian National Opera is Norway's only professional opera ensemble, with 13 soloists (4 of these positions are apprentice places for young singers who have recently completed their opera training), the Norwegian National Opera Chorus and the Norwegian National Opera Children's Chorus, which have 53 and 70 members respectively. Each season, the Norwegian National Opera also engages a variety of national and international guest soloists. The Norwegian National Ballet is the only classical ballet company in Norway. Besides classics like Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, the company's repertoire covers works by the international masters like Jiří Kylian, William Forsythe, George Balanchine and Sol León and Paul Lightfoot. The Norwegian National Ballet also focuses greatly on new works created especially for the company by choreographers like Alexander Ekman, Marit Moum Aune, Cina Espejord and associate choreographers Jo Strømgren and Alan Lucien Øyen.
