Guangzhou Opera House (GOH) is located in Zhujiang New Town, the heart of Guangzhou, was invested by Guangzhou government and had been constructed for 5 years. GOH is designed by famous designer Zaha Hadid, and the top-ranking acoustic master, Sir Harold Marshall, which make GOH has harvested international reputation and was referred to as one of the “10 Best Opera Houses Around the World” (USA Today) and “The world's most spectacular Theatres” (The Telegraph). The GOH has a 1687-seat opera hall, a 350-seat experimental theatre and 3 rehearsal rooms with different functions. On May 9th, 2010, GOH unveiled its curtain officially. It is operated by CPAA Theatres, which is affiliated to the cultural state-owned key enterprise, China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. With the "GOH model" of central-local cooperation and market-oriented operation, and the strategic positioning of “proceeding from the Pearl River Delta towards the whole world, with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area side by side”, the GOH has become a successful model of market operation through reformation and innovation and diversified operation. Twelve years since its opening, GOH has held performances and produced performing arts works under the principle of "international, innovative, original and explorative". Over 1,500 Chinese and foreign art institutes and groups and 43,000 artists have brought 3,142 wonderful performances. 5.3 million audiences visited the GOH to watch performances, and participate in activities. Andris Nilsson, Simon Rattle, Valery Jakiev, Zubin Mehta, Jonas Kaufman, Lang Lang and many other international masters performed on the stage and became the honored artists of GOH,as well as art groups like the Berlin Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, La Scala, the Mariinsky Theatre. GOH also teamed up with Rome, New York's Metropolitan Opera house, covent garden British families royal opera house, produced a number of world-class theatre operas, and gather global artists to produce opera Marco Polo, drama Huo Dong Bian Ren Xing, Zhong Nanshan, experimental drama SEIN UND ZEIT 2.0, online drama Waiting for Godot. In collaboration with art institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, GOH has co-produced a number of works, including the musical The Lily of the Valley and the dance theatre Dance the Trace which have won wide reputation at home and abroad. At the same time, GOH has also held more than 2,300 art activities, with over 820,000 offline participants and 130 million online participants. GOH has developed art training courses, and organized the first theatre-affiliated children's choir, the first children's ballet troupe, the first youth marching band and the first youth string orchestra with professional and high standards in China. GOH created the unique art training mode of "Classroom × Stage" to cultivate artistic talents, trained over 16,236 young artists, and built the Arts Boost art management professional exchange and learning platform. In recent years, GOH has been making artistic innovations based on science and technology, and has cooperated with other parties to explore the construction of "5G Smart Theatre". More than 300 online performances and activities have been held, greatly expanding the coverage of art. GOH has also become the meeting room of Guangzhou by hosting large-scale international cultural exchange events. In the future, GOH will continue to take the promotion and popularization of culture and art as its own responsibility, and strive to be the representation of Chinese culture to rank among the first-class theatres in the world.
