We are a nonprofit music organization dedicated to enriching our community through quality choral performances.
In 1966, a group of singers from Charlottesville, Virginia started a choir in hopes of sharing their voices with the community. Over the next five decades, we made history by performing major works for the first time in Charlottesville, all while planting roots for a thriving local arts scene in our area.
Our history is defined by a commitment to excellence and community engagement. Through ongoing education, including community workshops and summer sing-ins where local singers are invited to train and perform with The Society, we have helped spread the joy of music to attendees and singers alike.
At the heart of what we do is our commitment to the community, which is seen in our membership and in whom we serve. We are proud to be a community chorus dedicated to serving our larger region through the power of the arts.
While our organization has evolved from a small group of individuals who desired to sing together to a group now of almost 100 dedicated performers, our core values have always remained the same: To perform excellent music that connects our community and enriches lives through the power of the arts.
