Biography

Angela Lin

Angela Lin is a pianist and educator based in Los Angeles. She is currently a Doctorate of Musical Arts candidate at USC under the tutelage of Dr. Stewart Gordon, where she also received her master’s under Antoinette Perry. Her major field of study is in piano performance, with minor fields in Keyboard Collaborative Arts under the guidance of Dr. Alan Smith, Music Teaching & Learning, and Music Technology. Angela has a position as a Keyboard Studies teaching assistant at USC, teaching both group piano classes and private piano lessons, and was hired as an accompanist at USC. An honors student and scholar, she is an active member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society & Music Teachers National Association, representing USC Collegiate Chapter at the MTNA National Conference and Collegiate Symposium and serves on the board of officers to provide like-minded students with opportunities to learn from workshops and resources. 

Throughout her master’s and doctoral degrees at USC, Angela has been highly involved in campus life, working as a student office assistant in the classical division, playing with the USC wind ensemble & symphony orchestra that trains young professionals, and an accompanist, playing from a variety of classes and instruments. Not only has Angela attended conferences as a scholar and teacher, but she has also competed in several competitions, receiving top prizes for her performance. 

During her undergraduate at UCLA, Angela was involved in the LA community as a teacher through the Music Partnership Program teaching underprivileged children, with one student eventually getting accepted into UCLA. Passionate about the arts, she has been involved in many programs and leadership positions, including treasurer, section leader and accompanist in choir, concertmistress of the school orchestra, and toured China with SDYS. While at UCLA, she has taken part in Woodwind Chamber, Camarades, Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, Chinese Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra, playing piano, violin, yangqin and guzheng. Angela’s mentors included George Katz, Walter Ponce, Craig Richey, David Kaplan and Chi Li while also performing in masterclasses from Mykola Suk, Baruch Meir, Daniel Schlosberg, Jerome Rose and Gilbert Kalish. She was a recipient of several scholarships which include, the Herb Alpert School of Music, Benno Rubinyi, Marc Rubin, and Celia & Herma Wise Award which supported her studies.
