Lily Smith is a 25-year-old French-American soprano. She was born and raised in Paris, France, and later moved to the United States. This summer, Smith will be singing Laetitia in Menotti’s “The Old Maid and the Thief” as a Studio Artist for Angels Vocal Arts Academy. Lily spent the spring in France, where she performed a private recital in a chateau of Normandy for the yearly “Pierres et Lumières” event. Lily Smith holds a Master’s of Music Degree from the Thornton School of Music at USC, in Los Angeles. She also earned a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. In 2022, Lily Smith took on a great variety of roles. She sang Svetlana in the world premiere of All The Truths We Cannot See in Helsinki, Finland. Upon returning to LA, she interpreted the role of Madam Mathilde in LA Opera Connect’s production of On Gold Mountain and then joined Opera Steamboat to sing Princess Gilda in The Three Feathers. Leaving the contemporary repertoire, Lily also had the pleasure of being Cendrillon in Massenet’s Cendrillon with Chicago Summer Opera, and went on to Santa Fe, NM, to take part in Opera West’s production of I Pagliacci.
