Biography

Olivia Jirousek

Based in Central Texas, Olivia Jirousek is an emerging performer and teacher who embraces music as a universal language. As an active performer, she has appeared at venues across the country, including Carnegie Hall, The Civic Center Music Hall, and the Kauffman Center. She was formerly appointed as Third Flute/Piccolo with the Waco Symphony Orchestra for the 2021-2022 season. She currently teaches privately in Frisco ISD & Richardson ISD.

Contributing greatly to her success, Miss Jirousek has performed for several distinguished flutists such as Demarre McGill, Julien Beaudiment, Paul Edmund-Davies, and many more. She was a finalist in the 2021 Baylor University Concerto Competition, winner of the 2018 Oklahoma Flute Society Collegiate Master Class Competition and 2016 National Flute Association Collegiate Flute Choir Competition. Additionally, she has been a soloist with the Oklahoma City Symphonic Band and Oklahoma State University Cowboy Marching Band.

Jirousek has been a part of numerous performance opportunities that have led her to receive a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of North Texas, where she studied with Terri Sundberg. She earned a Master of Music Performance degree at Baylor University where she served as the Flute Studio Graduate Teaching Assistant, while studying with Dr. Charlotte Daniel. She is an active freelance musician and has played for many public events, weddings, funerals, and church services.

Miss Jirousek is also passionate about music education and maintains an active private studio of all ages and abilities. She previously taught undergraduate secondary flute lessons and coached chamber ensembles at Baylor University. Additionally, her knowledge is shared through private lessons and masterclasses at local school districts. Her students have achieved region and area placements in TMEA and ATSSB as well as state solo & ensemble recognition.

Her goal is to share music and make the world a better place through her passionate performances and education. She is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, National Flute Association, and Texas Flute Society. Olivia's other non-musical interests include sewing, knitting, skiing, and volleyball.
