Biography

Isabella Ivy

Isabella Ivy made her professional debut as a Resident artist at Opera San Jose in the role of Gilda Rigoletto. She also performed the roles of Elvira in L’italiana in Algeri, Lillia Herriton in the world premiere of Where Angels Fear to Tread, Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, and the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro. Other roles include Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Madame Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor, and Laetitia The Old Maid and the Thief. She joined Symphony Silicon Valley as the soprano soloist in Rachmaninoff’s “The Bells” and the Merced symphony as the soloist in “Carmina Burana”. She has also been a part of Target’s “Summer Pops” Concert series in San Jose. She sang at the Sydney Opera House with the Eric Whitacre Choral Festival in 2004, and has also performed several locations in Europe. She pursued her Masters in Opera performance at IU, and most recently sang the role of Ortlinde in the award winning production of The Vegas Ring Cycle with the company she helped found, Vegas City Opera. She is also an up and coming composer and arranger of vocal music. She has arranged and written several art songs, and she is currently in the process of composing the music for her first opera "Aqua Tofana", for which she also wrote the libretto. Miss Ivy has also worked as a professional costumer with several theater and opera companies , has written scripts and libretti for several shows (most recently "The Vegas Impresario") and also produces works as a visual and fiber artist.
