Amanda Palmeiro has been praised by Opera News for her “bright-toned, vividly expressive” singing. The 2019-2020 season brings two role debuts for Miss Palmeiro; Butterfly in Butterfly with InSeries DC, and Papagena in the Emerging Artist performance of The Magic Flute with Washington National Opera. Additionally, Ms. Palmeiro will be performing Samuel Barber’s "Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with the Avanti Orchestra in November. In the 2018-2019 season, Ms. Palmeiro made several appearances with the Washington National Opera, including her solo debut with the American Opera Initiative, for which she was hailed the “major discovery of the evening” (Washington Classical Review). This season also included appearances with Opera Delaware and Baltimore Concert Opera. In 2019, Ms. Palmeiro was the First Place winner of the Washington International Competition for Voice and received Third Place in Opera Birmingham’s 41st Annual Vocal Competition. She also received an Encouragement Award in the Mid-Atlantic Reginal Finals of the Metropolitan National Council Auditions and Third Prize in the Washington DC Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters Voice Competition. Other recent performances include First Lady in The Magic Flute with Shreveport Opera, and Anna Maurrant in Street Scene with the Janiec Opera Company. Following her vocal transition from Mezzo-Soprano to Soprano, Miss Palmeiro began performing again in the D.C. Metropolitan area with her first scheduled engagement as an ensemble member for Madama Butterfly with Washington National Opera. In March of 2015 Miss Palmeiro gave a “vibrant, steady” (Opera News) performance as Alte Frau in Guntram with the Washington Concert Opera. Miss Palmeiro spent the summer of 2015 with the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Festival where she had the pleasure of portraying Dorabella in Così fan tutte and Emily in The Ballad of Baby Doe.
