Ariel Antoinette Alvarado is the Inaugural Daniel L. Ridout Teaching Fellow of the Wilmington Children's Chorus in Wilmington, Delaware. Ms. Alvarado earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Spelman College. She also earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Integrated Studies from Clayton State University and her high school diploma from Rockdale County High School in May of 2018.
During her time at Spelman, Ms. Alvarado was the Librarian and Student Conductor of the Spelman College Glee Club, the Student Conductor of the Georgia Tech Treble Choir, and a choir consultant for the choirs at Fayette County High School. She also served as a Guest Clinician and Conductor for the Fayette County Middle School All-County Choir Concert in February 2020.
During her time at OSU, Ms. Alvarado served as a Graduate Teaching Associate for the Music Education and Music Theory departments within the School of Music. Her duties included teaching an Aural Skills 1 section, an Aural Skills 4 section, and being a teaching assistant for a Music and Special Education course as well as an Early General Music Education course. She also assisted the OSU Women's Glee Club and the University Chorus.
Recently, Ms. Alvarado served as the Artistic Director for the Clintonville Community Choir for the Spring 2022 and Summer 2022 seasons. She also served as a counselor and assistant director of two music camps, the OSU School of Music Summer Music Leadership Intensive and the Rockdale County High School Choral Camp. Ariel just completed her tenure as the Guest Conductor of Capriccio Jubilee and as the Conducting Intern for the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus.
