Eniko Samu is a Hungarian violinist, currently a member of The Orchestra Now (TON), which is a pre-professional training orchestra in residence at Bard College.
Eniko's journey as a violinist began in her early years, where she displayed a natural affinity for the instrument. Her passion for music led her to pursue formal training at the prestigious Liszt Academy in Budapest, where she honed her skills under the guidance of renowned violinists and mentors. Eniko's passion for music extended beyond her own performances, as she also developed a profound interest in music education. She recognized the importance of nurturing the next generation of musicians and sought to share her knowledge and expertise with aspiring violinists. Her studies in music education at the Liszt Academy equipped her with the necessary tools and insights to become an exceptional teacher. After devoting six years to her studies at the Academy, Eniko received both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in violin performance, along with an additional Master's degree in music education.
Chamber music holds a special place with Eniko. From 2015 to 2021, she served as the first violinist in the esteemed Trèpide Quartet, where she experienced the transformative power of collaborative music-making. Through intimate and nuanced performances, Eniko discovered the intricacies of communication and the ability to merge individual voices into a unified musical expression. She would then then go on to be one of the founding members of the Camerata Pelsonore Chamber Orchestra. This dynamic ensemble allowed her to explore a diverse repertoire and refine her collaborative skills, fostering a deep understanding of musical dialogue and the art of blending voices. Eniko's involvement in chamber music has not only enriched her own musicality but also instilled in her a profound appreciation for the intimate and intricate world of small ensemble performances.
Eniko Samu is currently at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Being a part of this esteemed program has provided Eniko with extraordinary opportunities to collaborate with renowned artists and further enrich her musically. She has had the privilege of performing alongside great musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, a legendary violinist known for his electrifying performances. Additionally, Eniko has worked closely with acclaimed conductor Jane Glover, delving into the nuances of interpretation and musical expression. Collaborating with Bing Wang and Noah Geller, both esteemed violinists, has allowed Eniko to explore different artistic perspectives and exchange musical ideas. These invaluable experiences at the Aspen Music Festival and School have propelled Eniko's musical growth, pushing her boundaries in and outside music, inspiring her to reach new heights as a violinist.
