The Turner-Fischer Center for Opera at LSU, one of the first major university programs in the United States, has produced exceptional singers who have sung on world opera stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and New York City Opera. LSU annually produces two main stage productions, fully staged, designed, costumed, and accompanied by members of the LSU Symphony Orchestra, alongside smaller, staged shows and numerous outreach performance opportunities.
For the season finale, Olivia portrayed Martirio in LSU Opera's production of Frederico Lorna's legendary tragedy "La Casa de Bernarda Alba" reimagined by composer Griffin Candy and librettist Caridad Svich. This production was mounted under the direction of Dugg McDonough and the baton of maestro Michael Borowitz.
The Turner-Fischer Center for Opera proudly presented the collegiate premier of Anthony K. Brandt's "Kassandra" in a double bill with Menotti's "The Medium." Olivia Newcomb performed the joint roles of Ty/Cassandra under the direction of Dugg McDonough and the baton of maestro Michael Borowitz.
Olivia Newcomb portrayed Le Prince Charmant in Massenet's "Cendrillon" for her role and house debut with the Turner-Fischer Center for Opera. She was fortunate to work under the direction of Dugg McDonough and the baton of maestro Michael Borowitz.
