Susanna Bobbs currently attends Northwestern University where she is pursuing a double major in Viola Performance and Arts Management along with a minor in Psychology. Born into a musical family, Susanna began studying the violin and piano at age four. As a violinist, Susanna soloed with the Houston Baroque Chamber Orchestra, the Brazosport Symphony, the Symphony North of Houston, Clear Lake Symphony, and the Summit Symphony. Susanna has won 1st place in the New York Chamber Music Center Young Artist Competition, The Monmouth Symphony Concerto Competition, and The NFMC National Stillman Kelly Competition and received top prizes in the Yonkers Symphony Concerto Competition, BAMTA Instrumental Competition, Texas State (TMTA) Young Performer Competition, Dallas International Junior String Competition, and the Vivo International competition. In the summer of 2019, Susanna began to study viola with Lisa Heffter and Yi-Fang Huang, and immediately garnered success, having been accepted into the Juilliard Pre-college program and won the Wendell Irish Viola regional award, NFMC Collegiate Viola Competition, LISMA International Music Competition, and selected for the highly competitive Music@Menlo Festival in California. She is currently a student of Helen Callus. Recently, Susanna’s piano quintet won 1st place in the Northwestern Chamber Competition. Besides performing, Susanna has been recognized by The Strad and The ViolinChannel for using her musical talent to help others. In 202, Susanna and her twin sister, Bethany, founded a non-profit organization know as Harmony for Healing which has provided financial aid to unemployed artists struggling due to COVID-19, Ukranian refugees in need of medical supplies and humanitarian aid, and recently, survivors of the Maui wildfire. During her recent summers, Susanna held internships at the Music@Menlo Chamber Festival and the Aspen Music School and Festival. In her free time, Susanna loves to cook, play tennis, and spend time with her nieces and nephews!
