Sara Tillett
(She/Her) Soprano Sara Tillett, from Miami, FL, is a Professional Studies Diploma candidate on scholarship at Mannes School of Music in NYC where she studies with Beth Roberts and Joshua Greene. While at Mannes, Sara is performing Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and under-studying Zerlina in Don Giovanni as part of the 2020-2021 Da Ponte Opera Project.

Biography

Sara Tillett

In 2019 she received her Master of Music in Opera from Binghamton University, where she studied voice with Tom Goodheart and coached with Diane Richardson, Joel Harder, Willie Anthony Waters, and Susan Ashbaker. Earlier that year, Sara sang the role of Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas under the direction of Maestro David Moody (Julliard School) at Binghamton University. She also performed as Lady in Blue in Binghamton University’s production of John Davies’ children’s opera, Pinnochio, directed by Carol Castel. In 2018, Sara performed Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte as part of Utah Vocal Arts Academy Festival/Utah Lyric Opera’s principal artist program and with Tri-Cities Opera as Cugina in Madama Butterfly and Novice in Suor Angelica. During her first year at Binghamton University, she sang the role of Lucy in another of John Davies’ operas, Billy Goats Gruff, and participated in bringing it into schools to teach children about opera. Earlier that year Sara portrayed Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Soeur Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites with Binghamton University’s opera scenes program. Sara has attended the summer program OC Ars Vocalis Academy in Rome, Italy, as well as the American Institute of Music Studies in Graz, Austria, during which she studied with soprano Evangelina Colon and pianist/coach Kathryn Wright, and performed in an orchestra masterclass with Maestro Marius Stieghorst, assistant conductor to Philippe Jourdan at the Opera national de Paris. Sara was a winner at the Eastern Regional NATS competition in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
