Biography

Doug Culclasure

Tenor Douglas Culclasure is a passionate musician currently studying Voice and Opera at the Bienen School of Music under the instruction of Karen Brunssen. Originally hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, Doug began singing at a young age and has studied classical voice since high school. An avid performer, Doug has enjoyed performing in multiple operas including Jake Heggie’s If I Were You, Puccini’s La Bohème, Bernstein’s Candide, and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Doug also is a frequent participant in choral activities, singing as a member of the Northwestern University Chorale and also serving as the Tenor Section Leader at First Presbyterian Church Wilmette.

This spring, Doug will star as Lamparilla in Barbieri's El Barberillo de Lavapiés as well as perform in the chorus of Handel's Alcina and perform his Junior Honors Recital.

This summer, Doug will travel to Europe to perform the roles of Dr. Caius in Versi's Falstaff, Flaminio in Scarlatti's Il Trionfo dell'Onore, and Monostatos in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte.
