In 2023, he won first prize in the NSAL Piano and Brass Duo Competition and was a finalist in the 2020 Next Generation Trumpet Competition.
Jafet Díaz Martin is a versatile Panamanian trumpet player, teacher, and arranger. He is pursuing a master's degree in music performance at Lynn University in the studio of Marc Reese.
He was a trumpet player with the Banda Sinfonica Municipal de Panama and Molas Brass Quintet. He has participated with the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Panama, Coro Polifonico de Panama, and Camerata Panama. As a commercial musician, he has participated in the Panama Jazz Festival and played with artists such as Willy Chirino, Maelo Ruiz, Solinka, and Pedro Brull.
In 2023, Jafet was a first prize winner in the NSAL Piano and Brass Duo Competition, and in 2020, he was a finalist in the Next Generation Trumpet Competition. Both competitions were in the USA. He has attended the Festival Alfredo de Saint Malo, Asociacion Nacional de Conciertos (Panama), and the Banda Sinfonica Integrada de las Americas (Colombia).
As a teacher, he is the assistant conductor of the Colegio Bilingüe de Cerro Viento Band, where he also is the trumpet professor. He has also conducted master classes throughout Panama for trumpet players, marching bands, and summer festivals. In 2021, he founded the Academia Panameña de Trompeta, where he teaches virtual and in-person classes for people of all ages.
He attended the Universidad de Panama for his Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance. His primary teachers include Boris Juarez, Alexis Morales, Carles Camarasa, Victor Paz, Juan Carlos Lopez, and Jose Luis Cajar.
