Rachel Flicker is a collaborative pianist from Nazareth, PA. She is currently pursuing her Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance at Penn State University studying with Dr. Timothy Shafer. Rachel has worked as a collaborative pianist for vocalists, instrumentalists, and ensembles throughout the Penn State School of Music. She collaborates with the Student Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has premiered many solo and collaborative pieces written by PSU composition majors. Rachel made her opera debut by playing harpsichord for PSU Opera Theatre’s production of Dido and Aeneas in 2021, and is the rehearsal and performance pianist this semester for their production of Dialogues of the Carmelites. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award, the Sue Haug School of Music Leadership Award, the Valley Family Scholarship, the Schlegel Memorial Scholarship, the Marie B. Ashburn Piano Scholarship, and the Jane Cowell Sheaffer Endowment. She also attended the prestigious program, The Collaborative Piano Institute at Louisiana State University in June 2022. Rachel has also taught private piano lessons at Flicker Music Studio for 9 years. After graduating this spring, Rachel plans to pursue a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano followed by a Doctor of Musical Arts in the hopes of teaching at the collegiate level.
