Soprano Victoria A. Davis has been a featured soloist in many concerts and events including the Welcoming of the First Lady of Russia with Michelle and Barack Obama and the Kennedy Center’s Young Artist in America presentation. Recent and upcoming engagements include Mrs. Zegner in Proving Up and Mary in Highway 1 with Opera Ithaca, the world premiere of composer Felix Jarrar’s Stardust, a piece written especially for her, with Helios Opera, and the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with Opera Susquehanna, and several performances with the innovative Fresh Squeezed Opera in New York City. On the competition circuit in 2022, Ms. Davis has placed as District Winner in The Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition, Finalist in The Jensen Foundation’s Competition, received a Grant Award from the Giulio Gari competition, and an Encouragement Award from The Gerda Leissner Foundation. Past awards include Encouragement Winner in The Metropolitan Opera’s 2021 Laffont Competition, First Place in the Harlem Opera Competition, and others. A frequent performer with Opera on Tap, Ms. Davis recently joined the New York City chapter as a Creative Producer, as well as The Director of Education. She is a proud alumnus of Oberlin Conservatory and Mannes College of Music, where some of her favorite roles included Lady Billows in Albert Herring and Marguerite in scenes from Faust. As a Soprano and performer, Victoria is a recent Graduate of Mannes College of Music. She had also participated in the Washington National Opera’s Juneteenth celebration as a soloist. Ms. Davis has been seen in the roles of Lady Billows in Albert Herring and Die Sandmännchen in Hänsel und Gretel in The Oberlin Opera theater. Ms. Davis is a proud alumni of Oberlin Conservatory where she studied with Soprano Marlene Rosen. Ms. Davis has been a recipient of many awards including the fifth place winner of Opera Ebony’s vocal competition as well as a prize winner of the Premiere Opera Foundation’s Vocal Competition. Recently, Victoria has been seen in the role of First Lady with Opera On Tap’s Playground Opera Program. She has also performed with the Masterworks Chorus as the Soprano soloist for the Brahms Requiem. In addition to that, Ms. Davis performed the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with Opera Susquehanna in August of 2019. In the 2020 season, Victoria will speak on a panel for Black Women In Opera: Community in Opera. Victoria will also make a virtual appearance with the Kirsten Lewis Foundation, for their Gala Performance as well as the world premiere of Stardust with Helios Opera, where she will premiere a song cycle written for her by Felix Jarrar. Victoria is proud to announce her participation with the Metropolitan Opera Guild and All Star Outreach, in giving back to the community through the arts. As of December of 2020, Victoria has joined the Opera on Tap family as a Creative Producer, as well as a Virtual Playground Opera Administrator. In addition to her vocal talents, Ms. Davis enjoys trying new recipes and writing poetry.
