Seth is a music educator and multi-instrumentalist from Pittsburgh, PA. Born into a family of musicians, they have studied a variety of instruments since childhood, including percussion, voice, cello, piano, and guitar. They came to Chicago in 2019 to study at Northwestern, where they earned a Bachelor’s degree in music education with a minor in music technology. During college, Seth fell in love with Chicago’s vibrant music scene, and now they work with musicians around the area as a recording artist, sound engineer, and performer. They teach in Chicago and Evanston public schools in addition to giving private lessons.
As a teacher, Seth prioritizes building confidence and healthy habits on a student’s chosen instrument early, honing in on strengths to use as leverage in areas for growth. Seth takes pride in guiding students towards their musical goals, whether that’s performing in a classical ensemble, rocking out in the garage, or writing/recording original songs. They see music as an emotional resource, and they love helping students of all ages discover musical identity through expression.
Seth's "home" instrument is percussion, but they have extensive experience performing on a variety of instruments, particularly drums, piano, guitar, and voice. They thrive when they get to make music in a collaborative setting, and have had the privilege of performing in rock bands, wind ensembles, orchestras, musicals, and operas all over Chicago. They also work as a recording artist for bands in the area.
