Biography

(She/Her) Filipino-Chinese harpist Justine Tiu is enjoying a career as a freelance musician and educator in Southern California and Northeast Florida. Happiest playing with others, Justine is a classically trained harpist with experience in orchestra, chamber, musical theater, ballet, opera, pop & more.

Biography

Justine Dawn Tiu

A native of Southern California, Justine Tiu is an active performer across California, Florida, and Georgia. In 2021, she was appointed Visiting Principal Harp for the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra's 2021–22 season, and the following year, she joined the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with orchestras including the Seattle Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic, Orlando Philharmonic, Redlands Symphony, and more.

Notable performances include the Lincoln Center’s national tour of My Fair Lady, Andrea Bocelli’s 30th Anniversary concert with the Savannah Philharmonic, Jacksonville Symphony’s 75th Season special—Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection”—and the Saint Augustine Music Festival, where she was featured as harp soloist in Ravel’s Introduction et Allegro, Debussy’s Danses sacrée et profane, and Grant-Still's Ennanga. 

Justine earned her Bachelor of Music from California Baptist University (’16) and her Master of Music in Harp Performance from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music (’21), where she studied under Marguerite Lynn Williams. Previous studies include Kayo Ishimaru-Fleisher and JoAnn Turovsky.
