Filipino-Chinese harpist Justine Tiu is enjoying a career as a freelance musician and educator in Southern California and Northeast Florida. Happiest playing with others, Justine is an orchestral harpist with experience in chamber, musical theater, ballet, opera, and pop.
A native of Southern California, Justine frequently performs with orchestras in California, Florida, and Georgia. In 2021 she was appointed Visiting Principal Harp for the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra's 21-22 season. Last year she was appointed Principal of the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra. Notable performances include the Lincoln Center’s National Tour of My Fair Lady (Fort Myers, FL), Orlando Ballet’s Giselle, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s inaugural performance in Steinmetz Hall, and performing two major harp concertos (Ravel’s Introduction et allegro, and Debussy’s Danses sacree et profane) as part of the Saint Augustine Music Festival. Off stage and out of the pit, Justine is making her way into the LA music scene. Most recent projects include appearing in Madison Beer's latest music video, Dangerous.
Justine earned a B.M. from California Baptist University ('16), and graduated with a Masters in Harp Performance from Northwestern University, Bienen School of Music (‘21) under the tutelage of Marguerite Lynn Williams. Previous studies include Kayo Ishimaru-Fleisher and JoAnn Turovsky.
