Wendy Silvester is a British mezzo-soprano with a powerful and versatile voice, beginning to make a name for herself in the works of Wagner and Strauss.
Wendy Silvester is a British mezzo-soprano with a powerful voice, and experience performing on both the opera and concert stage.
A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Wendy's training and performances have since taken her to venues across the UK, as well as into Europe, and the United States. To date, Wendy's operatic repertoire includes roles such as Waltraute (Die Walküre / Götterdämmerung), Fricka (Das Rheingold), Herodias (Salome), Klytaemnestra (Elektra), Fenena (Nabucco), Dritte Dame (Die Zauberflöte), and La Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica).
Wendy has trained with a number of short-course programs designed for advancing singers with dramatic voices, including Utah Vocal Arts Academy Dramatic Voices Program (2019), New York Dramatic Voices (2020, 2021), Dramatic Voices Program Berlin (2021), and has recently been accepted to take part in the Boston Wagner Institute (2023). Wendy was also a finalist in the Mastersingers UK Wagner Vocal Competition in 2022.
Wendy was also a participant on the very first Tundi Productions Practicum in 2022, and will return in 2023 as a peer mentor on the program. This project included appearing in their full productions as Waltraute (Die Walküre), and covering Fricka (Das Rheingold) in 2022, and taking on the role of Herodias in a concert productions of Scene 4 of Salome, as well as several small roles in Elektra, in 2023. At the 2023 Wagner in Vermont festival, Wendy will return as Waltraute, and cover Fricka in Die Walküre.
