Biography

Wendy Silvester

Celebrated by critics for her ‘impressive’ and ‘brave’ stage presence, Wendy Silvester is rapidly making a name for herself in the works of Richard Wagner. At the Wagner in Vermont festival, she has performed Fricka (Das Rheingold) and Waltraute (Die Walküre, Götterdämmerung) on the main stage, and taken on Fricka (Die Walküre), a Flowermaiden (Parsifal), Ortrud (Lohengrin), and excerpts of Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde) and Brünnhilde (Die Walküre) in concert. Further performance credits include Zweite Norn/Waltraute in an adaptation of Götterdämmerung with Cardiff Opera; another Flowermaiden and Grimgerde (Die Walküre) with New Palace Opera, Roßweiße (Die Walküre) for New York Dramatic Voices, and Schwertleite (Die Walküre) at the Mastersingers UK 25th Anniversary Gala – yes, that’s 4 out of 8 Valkyries so far!

In 2025, Wendy has performed in her first full cycle of Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Wagner in Vermont festival, as Fricka (Das Rheingold) and Waltraute (Die Walküre, Götterdämmerung), whilst covering Fricka in Die Walküre and Erda in Siegfried. Earlier in the year, Wendy made her debut in the role of Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) with North Wales Opera.

In recent years, Wendy has also performed the role of Fenena (Nabucco) in concert productions with both Uncovered Opera and St. Paul’s Opera; won an Off West End Award for Opera Performance (Ensemble) as part of HGO London’s The Cunning Little Vixen, where she played the Forester’s Wife and the Owl; been a Finalist in the Mastersingers UK Wagner Vocal Competition; had her first foray into the role of Herodias (Salome) with Tundi Productions; and took on the formidable Aunt Norris in Cardiff Cotswold Opera’s Mansfield Park.

Outside of the opera world, Wendy is a travel-loving gamer who is passionate about Norse mythology, science fiction and fantasy, and in her spare time she can be found practicing or writing songs with her doom metal band, or weightlifting at the gym. She also works as a freelance social media and digital content manager, known as Diggy’s Digitals.
