Mime, a Dwarven Craftsman, is alone in the woods, attempting to forge a mighty sword for his young ward, the demi-god Siegfried, grandson of Wotan. Mime forges this sword in the hopes that Siegfried will kill Fafner, the terrible dragon who guards over his peoples' stolen treasures, and with it, the infamous Ring of Power. Tom performs a self-produced and socially-distanced “Selfie Opera” of the final scene in Pagliacci, known as “The Play.” Filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as a way to bring opera up-close and personal to people stuck at home due to isolation. Filming began on World Opera Day (Oct 25, 2020) and wrapped on Oct 30th. The film was released Oct 31st, Halloween morning, 2020. Filmed in a garage using minimal sets, costumes, and Snapchat/Instagram filters for each characters' makeup. All audio is unedited. Thomas Cilluffo

2023/24: Mr. Cilluffo debuts with the Royal Danish Theater in Copenhagen, The Dallas Opera and the Lakes Area Music Festival. 2022/23: marked Mr. Cilluffo's European debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Regio Torino, & the Staatsoper Stuttgart after a successful season with the Santa Fe Opera. In competition, Mr. Cilluffo has been a quarterfinalist in the Operalia & Tenor Viñas Competitions; Winner of the Premiere Opera Foundation & Career Bridges Competitions; & finalist in the George London, Gerda Lissner (Opera,) Gerda Lissner (Lieder,) & Giulio Gari Competitions. Versatile in a wide variety of roles, in both character and leading tenor repertoire, he has performed with companies including the Portland Opera, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and Opera Colorado. Mr. Cilluffo is a craftsman of bespoke conducting batons for orchestral / choral conductors around the world. Thomas Cilluffo attended the University of Michigan where he studied under the legendary tenor, George Shirley.
