William Woodard is a pianist/vocal coach enters his second year with the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. He joins the Metropolitan Opera Music Staff as an Assistant Conductor for La Traviata. Previously, William was a Cafritz Young Artist at Washington National Opera. In the winter of 2020, he made his Kennedy Center debut as an Assistant Conductor for WNO’s production of Don Giovanni. He has worn many hats rehearsal pianist, recitalist, chorusmaster and budding conductor.

In the winter of 2020, he made his Kennedy Center debut as an assistant conductor for WNO’s production of Don Giovanni. William is an alumnus of many prestigious festivals including Wolf Trap Opera, the Merola Opera Program, the Aspen Music Festival, SongFest and AIMS in Graz where he was awarded the Outstanding Lieder Pianist Prize. This past summer, William served as Chorus Master for Wolf Trap Opera’s Double Bill production of Holst’s Sāvitri and Viardot’s Cendrillon. William made his Carnegie Hall debut while participating in Renée Fleming’s SongStudio in 2019. As a recitalist, he has performed at several embassies in Washington DC, LA Opera’s At Home concert series, M Institute, Florida Keys Concert Association and the Missouri River Arts Festival. William is also an avid chamber musician. The KOE Trio, which began playing together at Manhattan School of Music, was selected to perform in flautist Tara Helen O’Connor’s masterclass through The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in the spring of 2019. William graduated from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied under the tutelage of Warren Jones and was a recipient of the Jensen Scholarship for Opera Accompanying. Previously, he attended Vanderbilt University where he was a Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholar and studied under Amy Dorfman.
